We’re a small, woman-owned cocktail bar in downtown Durham, where we support local artists, musicians, and tarot readers. As part of the service industry, we are deeply affected by the current pandemic.

As social distancing and self-quarantining increase, service workers—especially hourly and tipped employees—take a direct economic hit. We are concerned about being able to continue paying our long-time, dedicated employees, as well as our regular entertainers and tarot-readers who depend on us for their incomes. We are remaining open for now, and continuing on with small events and performances, but we are not sure how long this will be possible as measures increase against COVID19.

In light of these circumstances, we first encourage you, if you are healthy and feel comfortable, to continue patronizing local businesses, including us! We are all increasing sanitizing measures to keep everyone as safe as possible in our locales. If you are not feeling well or are not going out for your safety and the safety of others, we encourage you to consider donating money that you might have spent on drinks or entertainment to our Patreon.

This money will go first and foremost towards core staff salaries to supplement lost income and make it so everyone can continue to pay their rent and put food on their tables. Additional Patreon money will be split between fixed costs that we must pay in order to keep the business going (e.g. rent), any performers still willing and able to come out and entertain you, and tarot card readers. 

In exchange for supporting us in this tough time, we will be making hand-drawn recipe cards of some of our most popular drinks and distributing them as .pdf files that you can use to make drinks at home. We’ll also investigate recording and streaming or posting video of performances that you can watch at home while you drink and pretend you’re with us at the bar! We also encourage you to contact tarot readers directly, as many of them are happy to give you readings over video chat!
